Giles to be a Padre?

It sounds like the Giles brothers are going to have the opportunity to play together: San Diego and Marcus are reportedly closing in on a contract that would make him their regular second baseman.

I'm really hoping the deal goes through. It'll be much easier wishing Marcus luck in the future if he's not a Met.

I share your thoughts. I love Marcus and will wish him well wherever he goes, but it will be so much easier rooting for he and Maddux in San Diego than hoping he does well inside the division. I read somewhere that he declined a deal with the Devil Rays. That makes me wonder if they would have accepted him in a trade for Crawford or Baldelli ... but I guess that's a different topic and too late to worry about now.

Exactly, Josh. I've always liked Marcus, but I understand why the Braves non-tendered him. And now that he's a Padre and not a Met, I'll be rooting for him.

Actually, I like the moves San Diego has made this offseason. Maddux isn't the pitcher he used to be but he's still got some gas left in the tank and he's smart enough to use Petco's size to his advantage.
